Baxter County has three public school districts: Mountain Home, Norfork and Cotter. The Baxter County Alternative School serves students from all three school districts. ASU Mountain Home was established as a branch campus of Arkansas State University - Jonesboro in 1995 and relocated to its new campus on 135 acres on south College Street in 2000. As a public two-year institution, ASU-Mountain Home offers associate degrees and certificates in occupational fields and a transfer degree for students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree at another university. ASU-Jonesboro offers junior, senior and graduate courses through the Center for Advanced Studies at ASU Mountain Home.
